Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune has two modes of play: Story Mode and Time Attack Mode.
Story Mode

Players race through 20 different stages on each of the two available tracks, C1 and New Belt Line, each looped 3 times for a grand total of 60 races.
Time Attack Mode

Players race against the clock to try and get the best time on a specific course.
Tuning card

Like other games in the Wangan Midnight arcade series, Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune employs the use of a tuning card to save the player's data.
